2015 U11 Camogie Away Trip to Kilconieron (Galway) 3rd Oct'15

On a beautiful autumn morning 31 of U11 girls and 7 mentors met bright and early in Pairc de Burca to board the bus to the West! The U11s were heading on their 2nd away trip this year. The trip to Kilconieron came about with strong Galway connections in the panel and amongst some of the mentors.

With the benefit of good roads we arrived in Kilconieron at 10:30am and played a series of exciting matches against a mixture of U11s, U12s and younger players from the host parish. The Kilmacud Crokes girls played extremely well and won all but one match.

The girls were exemplary on an off the pitch. When the host referee was thanked at the end of one of matches by one of the Crokes player he commented that it was that that was the first time he has ever been thanked for refereeing! The parish must have been baking for days as the players were treated to a gigantic spread in the clubhouse after.

The Kilmacud Crokes teams and mentors then headed off to Turero Pet farm and inflatable city where the girls enjoyed jumping around in Ireland’s largest indoor inflatable city. The highlight for most of us was the guided tour of the pet farm where we all learned a thing or two about some of Tureo’s unusual animals.

We headed back to Dublin late in the afternoon and with the girls singing all the way home. What a great day in Galway and well done to all our fantastic U11 girls who had so much fun and were so much fun too!

2105 Camogie Trip to Dicksboro
On Sunday the 22nd of March two Kilmacud Crokes Camogie teams of U11s girls travelled to Kilkenny to play Dicksboro. The girls enjoyed glorious sunshine as they played with great conviction against a mixed under 12s and under 10s Kilkenny side. Both teams played well and were only narrowly defeated in one of the matches.  It was our first outing on grass after winter training in Benildus and it was a good learning experience for the girls as the Camogie season gets into full gear. Both on and off the pitch the girls were exemplary in their behaviour and a great days fun and camogie was had by all.   Special thanks to Roddy for organising with Dicksboro and for the lovely tea, sandwiches, cakes and ice cream that were provided with in the clubhouse after.   Finally, thanks to Maura & Pat and all the mentors and parents who travelled and provided lifts for the girls.
